Everything about the GrubHub Delivery Service (Just EAt)

rubhub is an American online and mobile food ordering and delivery platform. It allows users to order food from local restaurants and have it delivered to their doorstep. Grubhub connects customers with a wide range of restaurants, providing a convenient way to order food and have it delivered or for pickup.

Users can access Grubhub’s services through their website or mobile app, where they can browse menus, place orders, and pay online. Grubhub partners with various restaurants in cities across the United States, making it a popular choice for people who prefer the ease of ordering food online or through their mobile devices.

Grubhub was founded in 2004 by two software developers, Matt Maloney and Mike Evans, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The idea for the platform came about when the founders became frustrated with the lack of options for ordering food online and the inconvenience of paper menus.

The initial concept of Grubhub was to create a website where users could find local restaurants and place food orders for delivery or pickup. The platform focused on connecting customers with nearby restaurants that did not offer their own delivery services, thus expanding the delivery options available to users.

In 2007, Grubhub expanded its services by launching a mobile app, making it even more convenient for users to order food on the go. The app’s popularity contributed significantly to the company’s growth.

Over the years, Grubhub continued to grow, acquiring other online food ordering and delivery platforms to expand its market presence. Notably, in 2013, Grubhub merged with Seamless, a similar food delivery service, further strengthening its position in the industry.

The company went public in April 2014 when it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “GRUB.” Going public provided Grubhub with additional capital to further expand its operations and services.

Grubhub’s success attracted competition from other food delivery services like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Postmates, among others. As a result, the company continued to innovate and enhance its offerings to maintain its market share.

The largest shareholder and co-founder of Just Eat Takeaway.com is Jitse Groen.

Jitse Groen is a Dutch entrepreneur who founded the online food ordering platform Thuisbezorgd.nl (Takeaway.com) in 2000. Over the years, the company grew and expanded internationally, acquiring several other food delivery platforms, including Just Eat, Lieferando, and others.

In 2020, Just Eat Takeaway.com acquired Grubhub, one of the leading food delivery platforms in the United States. This acquisition further solidified the company’s position as one of the largest online food delivery companies globally.
