What is the best time to go to bed?

The recommended amount of sleep varies depending on a person’s age and individual needs. However, the National Sleep Foundation provides general guidelines for optimal sleep duration. Here are the recommended sleep durations for different age groups:

  1. Newborns (0-3 months): 14-17 hours
  2. Infants (4-11 months): 12-15 hours
  3. Toddlers (1-2 years): 11-14 hours
  4. Preschoolers (3-5 years): 10-13 hours
  5. School-age children (6-13 years): 9-11 hours
  6. Teenagers (14-17 years): 8-10 hours
  7. Adults (18-64 years): 7-9 hours
  8. Older adults (65+ years): 7-8 hours

Based on these guidelines, you can determine an appropriate bedtime by counting backward from the time you need to wake up in the morning. For example, if you need to wake up at 7 AM and you’re a teenager, aiming for a bedtime between 10 PM and 12 AM would be suitable to ensure you get 8-10 hours of sleep.

It’s important to note that these are general recommendations, and individual sleep needs can vary. It’s best to listen to your body and adjust your bedtime accordingly, ensuring you get enough sleep to feel rested and rejuvenated each day.
